Oil painting. Lesson 2
The copy of A Coign of vantage by Alma-Tadema. The Seven-layer technique of oil painting.
For this work i used canvas 60x80cm. It is second copy of the painting. I go to that way, which Artpapa showed.
It's multilayer old-flemish technique of oil painting.
The 7 layers are as follows:
- Imprimatura
- Umber underlayer 1
- Umber underlayer 2
- Dead layer
- Color layer 1
- Color layer 2
- Some transparent layers.
1. And it's the first layer above a contour on canvas, imprimature (light ochre)
2. Umber underlayer 1.
After some days of drying.
Burnt umber with linseed oil.
3. Umber underlayer 2. Burnt umber.
4. Dead layer.
Consists of Lamp black, White and Ochre.
Lights there will be pastose, and shades will thin. I at once colored an ochre yellows dresses.
5. Color layer 1.
6-7... Color layer 2 and some transparent layers.
After drying I have varnished the picture. The big picture and big fragments are here.
